I guess I should have filled this out sooner. Like when I first joined this site

I'm a 39 y.o. single mother. I worked all of my life, from the age of 15 until the age of 34. I loved working. It gave me a sense of accomplishment and independence. Ever since my back surgery in the fall of 05', I haven't been able to work. I've been to numerous doctors about my back and they've all pretty much told me that there isn't much else that can be done. I could keep having surgeries but with degenerative disc disease it's pretty much pointless.

I applied for SSI and Disablility in the fall of 06' because of what the doctors told me. I've waited and waited, done everything that Social Security has asked of me and still no decision in my case. My daughter, who has juvenile diabetes, gets a check every month and I get a small amount from Social Services. $259 a month to be exact. This is not enough for me and my daughter to live on, not by a long shot. I went from working 2 jobs and bringing home a little over $2000 a month to trying to survive on under $900 a month. Needless to say this has also caused me to have some mental health problems as well. I'm currently being treated for depression and panic disorder.

I had a roommate up until last week that paid half of the rent and utilities but his new girlfriend was not comfortable with him living with us, so she talked him into moving out. He only gave me a days notice and informed me that he wasn't going to pay his share of the bills or rent. Now I have to try and find some way of getting the money for his share of the rent so that my daughter and I won't be evicted. I've got friends looking for more affordable housing for us and I'm still on the Sect 8 housing list but I'm afraid that we're going to end up homeless.
